German independent regional OLT is commencing its first service to the UK with a route linking the industrial cities of Bremen and Manchester.

Currently operating domestic routes and connections to islands in the North Sea, the Bremen-headquartered carrier begins its new daily scheduled service using a 33-seat Saab 340 turboprop. The move also marks Manchester Airport's first direct service to Bremen, located in northern Germany.

OLT managing director Gerd Weber says: "Bremen is badly connected to the UK, apart from to London, and there is a demand from the northern part of Germany to link with the middle part of the UK.

"The time is right to operate from the UK's central gateway, as many companies that are within one hour's drive of Manchester have links with German counterparts.

"Travellers will also have the opportunity to transfer to onward destinations such as Leipzig, Dresden and Nuremberg, from our Bremen hub."
