Lockheed Martin has awarded a contract for the manufacture of horizontal stabilator skins for the F/A22 Raptor advanced tactical fighter to GKN Aerospace Services (GKNAS). The award brings the value of GKNAS orders on each aircraft to $4.5 million.

GKNAS says it made first deliveries of the stabilator skins just two months after receipt of the order. Deliveries will continue through to September this year. The contract award gives GKNAS a potential $1.5 billion stake in the Raptor programme. The company is supplying sinewave wing spars, engine transition ducts and air inlet lips, fan and augmenter ducts and fuselage frames.
