It was celebration time for Bombardier just after noon in Dubai yesterday when the graceful Global Express (aircraft 9004) touched down after a flight from Witchita, Kansas.

Pilot John Race stepped down from the aircraft and as he was given a glass of champagne by jubilant John Lawson, president of Bombardier Business Aircraft Sales, he said: "This aircraft is a pilot's dream. It was a great flight and beautiful to handle."

The Global 13,800km (7,500nm) flight was broken with a refuelling stop at London's Luton airport.

Customers which have already placed orders for a Global Express sight unseen were among the first to go on to the fully-fitted aircraft to see what they are buying.

Pictured at the celebration are Bombardier executives and flight crew (L-R) Kevin Hoffman, Steve Roach, Peter Boyd, John Lawson, John Race, Al Smith and Peter Edwards.
