Northrop Grumman has received two USAir Force contracts for further work on the RQ-4 Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned air vehicle (UAV). The company has received $101.3 million for two Lot 1, low-rate initial-production UAVs which are to be delivered in September and December next year. The second contract, worth $41.5 million, covers the engineering and manufacturing demonstration phase of the programme. Despite the fact that is still a development programme, the USAF has used prototype RQ-4s over Afghanistan.
