GMF AeroAsia has secured contracts to perform MRO work for four Iranian airlines, which will commence in the second half of 2015.
The four carriers are Atrak Air, ATA Air, Meraj Airlines and Iran Air.
The Garuda Indonesia maintenance arm says Atrak Air will send three Airbus A320 aircraft for maintenance on a 30-working day agreement. ATA Air will send two Boeing 737 Classic aircraft for C-Check maintenance, as well as two CFM 56-3 engines for overhaul.
Meraj Airlines and Iran Air will meanwhil have scheduled maintenance for its fleet at GMF’s base in 2016.
“Over the years, GMF has gained a sufficient place in the Iranian aircraft maintenance market, thus [the] opportunity to expand the market is quite open. One of the potential opportunities is the maintenance of the 737 Classic,” adds GMF.
GMF’s latest contracts follow a recent Iranian audit that approved the MRO firm for A320 maintenance, as well as the application for maintenance work on the 737-Classic to the Iran Civil Aviation Organisation.
