Malaysia's Sime Aircraft Tyre reports an increase in turnover of more than 54% compared with 1996 figures.

Sime managing director Mohammed Ishak attributes the surge to market recognition it has received in the wake of a Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA) between Malaysia and the USA signed in May 1997.

The demand for the company's aircraft tyres, produced under the Simex Aero brand name, is soaring, and Ishak says continued strong growth is expected, particularly in the US market, the world's biggest.

SkyWatch has marketing and distribution rights for Sime in the Americas.

Certified Aircraft Parts of Hollywood, Florida, has been appointed as a factory distributor for the C-130 and L-100 aircraft tyre market worldwide.

Petaling-based Sime Aircraft Tyre also manufactures and retreads tyres for more than 28 other aircraft types, including the Boeing 747, all of which have been approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration.

Sime Aircraft Tyres are on display at the Certified Aircraft Parts exhibit (D105).
