Good Week

Air Berlin German prosecutors dropped their investigation into allegations of insider trading at Air Berlin, clearing chief executive Joachim Hunold, chairman Johannes Zurnieden and three other senior executives. The inquiry began more than a year ago and related to the acquisition of Air Berlin shares ahead of the carrier's disclosure that it planned to acquire Munich-based budget airline DBA. Hunold has rejected any suggestion of wrongdoing.

Bad Week

Frontier Airlines Reflecting a 17% capacity reduction set to start in mid-August, the carrier will cut 456 jobs at its Denver hub - roughly 7.4% of its workforce, with more than half the cuts hitting flight attendants and first officers. Frontier will also cull seven aircraft from its fleet and hopes to defer deliveries of seven aircraft by two years. It hopes to secure debtor-in-possession financing to fight competition from Southwest Airlines and record fuel prices.
