Boeing and Lockheed Martin US antitrust authorities have given the manufacturers the long-awaited green light on the planned merger of their rocket launcher units, in a deal they say will save US taxpayers $150 million a year in satellite launch costs. Some conditions have been imposed on the United Launch Alliance joint venture to protect the interests of other satellite service providers, but the Federal Trade Commission voted unanimously for the deal to be allowed to proceed.
