BFGoodrich Aerospace has been selected by C&D Aerospace to supply emergency evacuation systems for the new Embraer ERJ 170 and ERJ 190 aircraft, it was announced at the show. C&D programme manager Jamie Short says: "C&D needed a partner that can deliver a certified escape slide system for these aircraft within the required programme schedule while meeting the stringent design requirements for this aircraft."

Boeing remains hesitant to jump headlong into developing hydrogen-powered aircraft due to safety and technical challenges, despite widespread calls for aircraft developers to roll out clean-burning designs as quickly as possible.
While Embraer has so far not announced any commercial jets orders at this year’s Farnborough air show, chief executive Arjan Meijer says there are numerous deals in the pipeline for at least 300 aircraft.
