Goodrich, in conjunction with SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC), is officially dedicating its new 230,000ft2 (21,000m2) nacelle/thrust reverser Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Changi tomorrow afternoon

Curtis Reusser, president of Goodrich's Aerostructures division, says the new plant takes account of the rapid expansion of air traffic in Asia-Pacific. "Additionally, the anticipated number of aircraft in this region over four years old will double over the next decade," he says.

"To keep pace with this robust traffic growth and the surging demand for repair services, we've expanded both our floor space and MRO capabilities in Singapore. This new facility is sized and equipped to meet the demand for nacelle/thrust reverser MRO services and tap into the ageing aircraft market in this region for many years to come."

Ground was broken on the site, which is located adjacent to the airport, in July 2002. It is more than twice the size of Goodrich's previous facility in the nearby Loyang Industrial Estate - and five times bigger than the original facility established in Singapore in 1996.

The new site features the largest autoclave in the region - able to accommodate even massive Airbus A380 components.
