Goodrich Hella Aerospace Lighting Systems (Hall 2, H11) has been selected to develop an anti-collision lighting system for the Boeing Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche armed reconnaissance helicopter.

More than 600 Comanches are scheduled to be delivered in 2009-2010. The contract is potentially worth more than $4 million.

The lighting system consists of a traditional 2,000 candela white strobe light for training, as well as a newly developed strobe light using the latest light emitting diode (LED) technology.

Chris Burdette, Goodrich Hella's Military Programs sales manager, says: "This award is of strategic significance to Goodrich. It will allow us to provide the most up-to-date lighting technology for the centerpiece of the US Army modernisation plan.

"In addition, this contract provides us with yet another opportunity to work with Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. We are extremely proud to be part of the Boeing Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche team."

The RAH-66 Comanche will be among world's most advanced twin-turbine, two-seat armed reconnaissance helicopters with projected missions of armed reconnaissance, light attack and air combat. It features an all-composite airframe.

Goodrich Hella Aerospace Lighting Systems is a world leader in the design, development, test, manufacture and repair of exterior and interior lighting systems for military, commercial, regional and business aircraft.
