Federal Express is expected to confirm its much-anticipated order for the GE/Pratt & Whitney Engine Alliance GP7000 engine to power its 10 Airbus A380-800F freighters today at the show. The parcel express operator is the latest carrier to upgrade its memorandum of understanding for the aircraft into a firm order. It also has options for a further 10 of the type. The order means Federal Express has joined Air France and Emirates in selecting the GP7000 to power their A380s, while Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic have ordered the Rolls-Royce Trent 900.
