Flight International online news 14:00GMT: Privately-owned Greek carrier Aegean Airlines is ordering eight Airbus A320 aircraft and taking options on a dozen more from the narrowbody family.
The airline says the new Airbus aircraft will gradually replace its existing Boeing 737s. Deliveries of the firm aircraft are scheduled to begin in 2007 and run until 2009.
Alongside the eight aircraft on firm order, Aegean has also placed options on 12 more. These options cover aircraft across the A320 family.
Aegean currently operates a dozen Boeing 737-300/400s alongside six BAE Systems Avro RJ100s
