The Greek Merchant Marine Ministry has signed a Dr18 billion ($54 million) contract with Eurocopter for four Super Puma AS332C1 helicopters, which will be deployed for search and rescue operations. The contract, under which the first helicopter is scheduled to be delivered in early 2000, also includes the supply of rescue equipment, spares and servicing support. There are also plans for a purpose-built operations unit at the port of Piraeus.
