The Greek army has selected AlliedSignal's I55-714A turboshaft for seven recently ordered Boeing CH-47D Chinook heavylift helicopters. The engine, also selected by the Netherlands, Singapore and UK armed forces, delivers 22% higher power than older T55-712s, with a reduced maintenance cost, says the company. The -714A has a maximum power rating of 3,625kW (4,865shp). Deliveries of the engines is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2000.
