Gripen International is launching an Asian marketing campaign. The joint venture between BAE Systems and Saab has been invited by four undisclosed Asian countries to give technical and performance briefings following Asian Aerospace 2004. Gripen's sales team has not visited any Asian country, focusing on Europe, South Africa and South America. "In Asia, we see at least 500 aircraft that are coming up for retirement," says Gripen executive vice-president for international marketing Stephen Reeves.
