Guggenheim Aviation Partners is expected to be confirmed this week as the latest customer to sign for the newly launched Airbus A330-200F.
Airbus chief operating officer customers John Leahy revealed today in Paris that orders for the A330F have risen to 32, following the signing of an order from an undisclosed customer for six aircraft.
Flight understands that the customer is US cargo leasing specialist Guggenheim, with deliveries begining in 2010. The company, which last year signed for Boeing 747-8Fs and 777Fs, is growing its portfolio of newbuild freighters as the air cargo market continues to boom.
Guggenheim, which declines to comment on the order, is known to have been in talks about an A330F deal for sometime.
The company joins Flyington Freighters and Intrepid Aviation as the third customer for the 64t payload A330-200F, deliveries of which will begin in late 2009. The aircraft's industrial go-ahead was announced today by Airbus president and chief executive Louis Gallois, at the company's annual results briefing in Paris.
