Gulfstream has awarded a contract to Kollsman to supply its enhanced vision systems (EVS) for the manufacturer's large-cabin business jets. The EVS will be installed as a production standard on the G450 and ultra-long-range G550 and will be available as an option on the G300, G350, G400, G500, GIV, GIV-SP, and GV.

The multi-year contract, valued at about $20 million, comes on top of a contract received by Kollsmann last year from FedEx Express to equip its large transport-category aircraft with enhanced vision systems. Merrimack, New Hampshire-based Kollsman has to date secured firm EVS orders for more than 700 systems.

Kollsman's All Weather Window employs a dual-band infrared sensor, which generates an image that can be projected on any raster-video-capable head-up and head-down display, providing the pilot with a forward-looking image of the external environment.

The system allows the pilot to clearly view lights and ground features such as runways, terrain, aircraft and buildings at night and in low visibility.
