Bacharuddin Habibie, the Indonesian minister for research and development, has relinquished his position as president director of state aircraft manufacturer IPTN in preparation for his appointment as the country's Vice-President. Habibie, who has held the top job at IPTN since 1976, is succeeded by Hari Laksono, his erstwhile deputy. He has also resigned from several other state-owned operations.
