An airborne video recording system (AVRS) can be seen on the Hadland Photonics stand in Hall4/B9.

The Hemel Hempstead, England, based company is competing in a three-way contest with the AVRS to replace the wet film cameras on the Panavia Tornado GR1.

The second generation system, which is built specifically for mission evaluation on the Tornado, is being seen for the first time here at Farnborough ‘96.

It has the ability to film continuously using state-of-the-art electronics, with a superior radar scan converter and instant replay.

The recording is via an 8-channel multiplexer on to a single high 8mm airborne video recorder.
