The expansion of Airbus Deutschland's Hamburg Finkenwerder A380 plant is gathering pace, with construction starting of the major component assembly hall. This facility, which will be 230m (750ft) long, 120m wide and 26m high, will house the assembly line for the A380's forward- and aft-fuselage sections. It is due for completion next year, and is being constructed on a 140Ha (300 acre) wetland site reclaimed from the River Elbe. The site will also include the cabin furnishing hall, two paintshops, a pre-flight hangar, an engine run-up facility and a delivery centre.
