Immediate and repetitive inspections of the wing attachments on all North American Rockwell SNJ/AT-6 Texan/Harvard “warbirds” have been ordered by the US Federal Aviation Administration after a 9 May fatal accident in which the wing failed on an aircraft being used for aerobatic training. The emergency airworthiness directive requires fluorescent penetrant inspection of the attach angles for fatigue cracks, before further flight and thereafter every 200h.
