A move by Hawaiian Airlines has effectively ended the plans for a merger with Aloha Airlines, a deal originally announced in December. Its decision not to extend the 18 April deadline "essentially precludes completing this complex transaction", according to Greg Brenneman, chairman of TurnWorks, the holding company that was to have owned the merged airlines. The deal had faced strong opposition from employees and shareholders.
