Hawker Pacific and joint venture partner the Shanghai Airport Authority have officially opened their new fixed-base operation at Shanghai's Hongquiao airport.
The facility is initially offering FBO services, including full customs, quarantine and immigration services, as well as aircraft hangarage. The partners plan to add maintenance repair and overhaul and aircraft management services by the fourth quarter of this year, with a mobile maintenance team initially providing service support.
The 3,100m² (33,370ft²) base includes a large lounge, five offices, theatre and conference facilities for customers and a rest and service area for crew. The 4,000m² workshop and hangar is large enough for two Boeing Business Jets side-by-side. The FBO is capable of handling up to 6,000 aircraft movements a year.
With the World Expo 2010 scheduled to start in Shanghai next month, forward bookings for the business aviation facility are already heavy, says Hawker Pacific.
The move is part of the Australian company's plan to expand its FBO, MRO and aircraft management services businesses throughout Asia, says chief executive Alan Smith.
