An armoured-vehicle cannon mounting that allows the gunner to remain safely under cover is on show at Elbit Systems (stand A736). The two-axis-stabilised unit can accommodate a 25mm or 30mm cannon and folds down to less than 50cm (19.6in) high for air transport. The installation takes up no volume inside the vehicle and requires no penetration of the armoured deck, and loading, aiming and firing are accomplished remotely from inside the crew compartment. A 60o maximum elevation capability makes the system particularly effective in countering the threats from tall structures that are characteristic of urban warfare.
