Israel Aircraft Industries' Heron TP high-altitude long-endurance unmanned air vehicle is on schedule for its first flight early next year. Powered by the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 turboprop engine, the design will be the largest UAV to enter Israeli air force service, with a maximum take-off weight of 4,000kg (8,820lb) and a 26m (85ft) wing span. The Heron TP has an estimated flight endurance of more than 70h.
