South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has licensed Korea Bell Helicopter and Samsung Aerospace Industry to begin assembly of civil helicopters, with domestic demand forecast for 300 aircraft by the year 2000. Samsung has a five-year licence-assembly agreement with Eurocopter France. Korea Bell was established by the manufacturer as a maintenance centre in 1986, but became independent in 1994. Types to be assembled in South Korea have not been agreed yet, Bell says.
