Bulgaria's defence ministry has launched detailed negotiations with Elbit Systems and Lockheed Martin for the upgrade of 12 Mil Mi-24 assault and sixMi-17 transport helicopters for its air force. Elbit will act as prime contractor for the project, which will see the aircraft modified to comply with NATO standards.
