Airbus Helicopters delivered its first two H225s to Ukraine's interior ministry in late December, with another pair due to be transferred "in the coming weeks".
Kiev will introduce a total of 21 "repurposed" examples of the 11t type, for use in roles including law enforcement and National Guard operations. A training and maintenance centre will also be established in Ukraine to support the fleet.
"Now that the pilots have completed their H225 certification training in France, Ukraine can immediately take advantage of the excellent payload and range that the multi-purpose H225 offers," says Matthieu Louvot, the manufacturer's executive vice-president for support and services.
Airbus Helicopters, which signed a broader agreement with Ukraine in July 2018 for 55 rotorcraft, notes that the lead H225s were prepared for the nation within just over three months. The company will also provide 24 H125s and 10 H145s to support emergency medical services and search and rescue missions.
