The inaugural Rotorcraft Asia event in Singapore brings together stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific's civilian helicopter market

Held at the site of the Singapore air show, the show has a significant presence from several players including Sikorsky, Bell Helicopter, Airbus Helicopter, Safran, Honeywell, and others.

Apart from large stands, helicopter makers also brought several types to appear on static display. These include the Bell 505, 407, and 429. Airbus is also displaying a mockup of its development H160 helicopter.

One industry executive says the show presents an opportunity for industry players to discuss issues pertinent to the industry. He notes that issues and news around the civilian helicopter market tend to get overshadowed at Asia-Pacific's major air shows, thus creating an opportunity for a bespoke event.

Another event, Unmanned Systems Asia, is being held simultaneously with Rotorcraft. This event focuses on commercial applications in the burgeoning UAV space.

“The growing necessity to integrate smart technologies to drive efficiency and competitiveness has increased the need for the rotorcraft industry to continuously evolve and invest in new innovative technologies,” says Leck Chet Lam, managing director of show organiser Experia Events.

"The events are co-located to ensure industry players have one single effective platform to advance regional growth potential.”

In addition to the main show, several seminars focused on the helicopter and UAV sector are being held at the event. The focus is on industry innovation and the future of helicopters.
