Russian Helicopters has won a substantial order for a total of 150 emergency medical services-configured rotorcraft from the country's national air ambulance operator.

To be obtained via lessor Avia Capital Services on 15-year terms, the deal comprises 104 Kazan Ansat light-twins and 46 Mil Mi-8AMT heavy-twins.

Avia Capital and Russian Helicopters are both owned by state-run holding company Rostec.

The acquisition is part of a Rostec-driven initiative to create a single air ambulance operator for Russia's regions.

Total investment in the project exceeds Rb40 billion ($570 million), says Rostec.

While the Mi-8 features majority Russia-sourced components, the Ansat is powered by twin Pratt & Whitney Canada PW207K engines.
