Sikorsky has delivered the first search and rescue-configured S-92 helicopter to North Slope Borough in Alaska.
Dating from a 2015 order for a single unit, the new rotorcraft will be operated in the far north of the state, inside the Arctic Circle, over an area covering 246,000km² (94,800 miles²).
It will be used for SAR and medevac missions, as well as for other emergency tasks.

Sikorsky says the S-92 – which in June passed the one million flight hours milestone – has now completed more than 91,000 SAR missions globally.
That includes operations in the UK, where Bristow Helicopters has deployed a fleet of 14 S-92s working on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
