Officials from Uzbekistan Helicopters – a unit of the country’s flag carrier Uzbekistan Airways – earlier this week visited Airbus Helicopters’ sites in France and Germany to finalise a deal for new H145 light-twins.
Taking place from 24-26 January, the visit builds on a memorandum of understanding signed in November 2022 between the parent carrier and Airbus covering the supply of a pair of H145s.
Airbus Helicopters builds the H145 at its plant in Donauworth in southern Germany.
Uzbekistan Helicopters says the delegation was due to conduct negotiations and gain a deeper understanding of the H145’s capabilities, a process including test flights.
Modernisation of the fleet will help to “develop domestic tourism and popularise hard-to-reach locations in Uzbekistan”, the carrier states.
Uzbekistan Helicopters already operates Airbus Helicopters H125 and H130 light-singles, alongside the larger Russian-built Mil Mi-8.
