Canada's Helijet International is considering expanding its scheduled helicopter service following its acquisition of the former Island Valley Airways hangar and passenger lounge at Langley Airport in British Columbia.

Helijet flies between Vancouver harbour and airport, downtown Victoria and Seattle's Boeing Field. The company's fleet of 13 helicopters, principally 12-seater Sikorsky S-76s, includes a `19-seat Sikorsky S-61 added a year ago for use on the Vancouver-Victoria route.

The helicopter airline is now looking at launching a scheduled service to Victoria from Langley in the rapidly growing Fraser Valley, beginning in the fourth quarter. "Flying time from Langley to downtown Victoria, with a stop at Abbotsford Airport, would be about 40min," says Helijet chief executive Daniel Sitnam.
