Satellite tracking and communications systems provider Blue Sky showed off its recently launched HawkEye 7200 tracking device at Helitech.
The device is a fully portable alternative to its integrated D1000 data collection and transmission box.
The Iridium-linked 7200 also incorporates the Bluetooth add-on that currently allows users to link iPads and iPhones to the D1000, which lets flightcrew and dispatchers share electronic flight bag forms, including flight and maintenance plans.
The 7200 also connects to all three main satellite navigation constellations – GPS, Glonass and Galileo.
Vice-president for product marketing Paul Duran believes the 7200 is the better solution for operators whose principle objective is to track their assets.
However, the D1000 is also a robust option, and can transmit sensor data such as altitude. Because it transmits and receives through an external antenna, it is also suitable for aircraft with defrosting windscreens, which block radio waves.
