The US Army has cleared export sales of the Martin Marietta Hellfire II anti-tank missile. An upgraded version of the original Hellfire, the laser-guided weapon is in production for the US Army's McDonnell Douglas AH-64 Apache and US Marine Corps' Bell AH-1W helicopter gun ships. Variants of both are being offered to meet the UK's attack-helicopter programme. The first Hellfire II missiles were rolled off the assembly line in June 1994 to fulfil US Army.
