Imagine heaving a 100kg service trolley up a 25 degree incline along an aircraft aisle. Cabin attendants do it all the time, pulling or pushing laden meal, drink, waste and sales carts.

The result is often acute back problems and even sick leave, as the metal plates that usually cover joins between floor coverings create obstructions for the trolleys' wheels equivalent to that 25 degree slope.

A new threshold cover, which smooths out joints between different floor coverings, could be the answer, says Erik Andersen, sales and marketing director for SAS Component.

Differences

"It equals out these floor differences so all the cabin attendants will experience is a mere 2.5 degree slope," he explains.

The Swedish firm has a laden trolley plus slope to demonstrate the new system in Hall 3/E3.
