London's Virgin-HEMS Explorer suffered an engine failure on 27 December whilst in transit from its Royal London Hospital base to nearby Denham Airfield. The incident, which is now being investigated, was caused by fuel starvation, says the company. Virgin HEMS adds: "The [twin-engined] aircraft is operated to Public Transport Safety Standards and the flight was completed without any further incident. Virgin HEMS London has had a 100% safety record since the service began 11 years ago."
