Abu Dhabi-based Maximus Air Cargo is now the largest all-cargo airline in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since its fully-owned fleet of primarily Russian-sourced aircraft (Ilyushin Il-76TD and Antonov An-124-100 Ruslan) has been expanded with the addition of an Airbus A300-600 and a Lockheed L-100-30 (L-382G) Hercules, taking its fleet to eight aircraft in total.

Maximus’ Hercules is a stretched civilian variant of the military C-130 and it brings with it the capability to operate from unprepared runways with a take-off run of around 1,200-metres. Built in 1985, this particular L-100-30 (L-382G) has undergone a major upgrade including new, fully-integrated digital avionics; state-of-the-art navigation; improved fuel, environmental and ice protection systems; and an enhanced cargo handling capability.
