Risks to offshore rotary-wing flights are being reduced by applying information collected in the UK Civil Aviation Authority's helicopter operations monitoring programme (HOMP), claims the CAA. Both operators taking part in the trial - Bristow Helicopters and CHC Scotia - have "identified significant safety issues as a result of their programmes and were able to take corrective measures to address them", the CAA says. This is the follow-on stage of the trial, which saw HOMP transferred to a second UK operator, CHC Scotia, and developed for a second helicopter type in Bristow's fleet - the Sikorsky S-76.
