Honeywell and Racal have revealed details of an advanced satellite communications (satcom) system offering up to seven channels of voice/data. The MCS-7000 is being developed for use with Inmarsat spacecraft and will be available in April 1999, says the company.

The MCS-7000 will offer Aero-H, Aero-H plus, or Aero-I (spot beam) services. Honeywell and Racal also announced that Canadian Marconi has signed as the exclusive antenna provider for the intermediate gain Aero-I system. The agreement covers the MCS-7000 system as well as the MCS-3000 and MCS-6000.
