Honeywell Singapore has scored a company first by signing multi-year maintenance and spares pooling agreements with Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and China Eastern Airlines.
The five- to seven-year agreements for auxiliary power unit (APU) maintenance cover the Honeywell 331-600 APUs on Singapore's fleet of Airbus A340-500s and Cathy Pacific and China Eastern's fleets of A340-600s.
These are the first such agreements Honeywell has entered into in the region, which it says are part of the company's long-term strategy to meet local needs.
Under the contract, the airlines will benefit from spares pooling and Honeywell's industry-leading 15-day turnaround on complete APU overhauls at Singapore.
Jeremy Chan, Honeywell's vice-president Aviation Services, says this is a customer-driven deal where all three airlines benefit from the derived economies of scale. "Customers were asking for certain solutions to meet their specific requirements - the potential for this type of partnership is huge," he says.
