While Honeywell continues to support the merger, a comprehensive contingency plan is in place "if we must move forward as an independent company", says Michael Bonsignore, Honeywell¹s chairman and chief executive.

Bob Johnson, president, Honeywell Aerospace, says that merger or not, the company is in a strong position. The company is showcasing many new innovations at Paris and celebrating recent wins.

"Divestitures are a painful business – it's tough telling people who have invented and developed our products that they may have to go. One of my misgivings is that this merger process has taken so long," Johnson says.

"The merger preparations have been a wonderful learning experience for us - GE is an excellent company - but we are now a stronger, more competitive company ready to move ahead.

Quality

"It was the quality of the Honeywell business that attracted GE and UTC in the first place. Honeywell is ‘beach front property' and we have a great enterprise," he says. "Let's make no mistake, this is an exciting time to be in this industry. Aircraft are flying at 90% capacity, the business and regional jet markets are growing, and we can make existing aircraft fly better too," he says.
