Hong Kong airport's traffic fell further in July and it warns that it will take some time before traffic returns to the level it was before the global economic dowturn.
Passenger traffic fell 9.5% in July year-on-year to four million and cargo carried fell 8.3% to 291,000t, says Hong Kong airport.
"On the passenger side, Hong Kong residents showed a yearly growth of around 3% while visitors declined 17%."
"The public's receding concern over influenza A H1N1 and the summer travel peak were the two major reasons behind last month's comparatively better performance in passenger traffic" compared to earlier months this year, it says.
"The latest figures indicate that the downward momentum may have slowed", although "it will take some time before overall traffic performance returns to pre-crisis levels."
