The Hughes Aircraft SEA LITE beam director successfully illuminated and actively tracked a Black Brant missile during the boost phase in tests at the US Army Space and Strategic Defense Command's High Energy Laser Test site at the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. The system is made up of mirrors, a telescope and stabilisation system, and used a low power pulsed laser to track the missile.
