Hughes-Avicom has formed an alliance with Taiwan's ITRI research institute and Aerovision Avionics, also of Taiwan, to develop and market in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems. ITRI surprised the industry in 1996 with its new Taiwan Air Vision IFE demonstrator.
