Hurel-Dubois has formed a new alliance with Aermacchi for the production of nacelle systems for aircraft with fewer than 100 seats. The French company has reached an agreement with existing partner Bombardier Aerospace-Shorts for their International Nacelle Systems joint venture to focus on aircraft of 100 seats and over.

The tie-up with Aermacchi follows the selection by Fairchild Aerospace in August of General Electric's CF34-8D powerplant for the 728JET family, for which Hurel-Dubois and Aermacchi were already partnered to supply the nacelle. Aermacchi will supply the inlet, fan cowl and engine build-up elements, while Hurel-Dubois will supply the thrust reverser and aft core cowl.

The French manufacturer has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus to participate in the pre-launch phase of the A3XX airliner programme.
