The Israeli Offeq 3 intelligence satellite, scheduled to be launched soon, will allow the country's defence ministry to assess the capability of such a satellite to fit into an early-warning system aimed at locating surface-to-surface missile launches. The Offeq 3 has been built by Israel aircraft industries and will be launched into low-Earth orbit by an advanced version of the Israeli Shavit launcher.
