ISRAEL AIRCRAFT Industries (IAI) is to convert a Chilean air force Boeing 707 into a refueling aircraft. The $11 million contract includes options for the conversion of two Lockheed Martin C-130s.

The 707-300B will also be fitted with new navigation systems, including the global-positioning system. All the aircraft will have two wingtip pods enabling the refueling of Chilean air force Northrop F-5s, Dassault Mirage 50s and Cessna A-37Bs.

Chilean aerospace contractor ENAER, will participate in the conversion and the 707 will be delivered in July 1996. The refueling kits, will be supplied by the Bedek division, of IAI. Similar 707 conversions are in service with the Australian and Israeli air forces.
