Aero Industry Development Centre (AIDC) of Taiwan is scheduled to deliver its first Ching-Kuo Indigenous Defence Fighter (IDF) simulator to the Taiwan air force in early 1997. The simulator is understood to incorporate a 7.3m (24ft) partial dome system, a 180¡x60¡ display and ESIG-3000 image generator from Evans & Sutherland. The IDF simulator has been developed and integrated locally by AIDC, with aid from Western suppliers. Taiwan requires up to six simulators to provide pilot training for the air force's 130 Ching-Kuo fighters. Training is to begin in January at the CCK airbase in Taichung. AIDC's IDF system is designed to provide a high degree of commonality with Hughes Lockheed Martin F-16A/B simulators.
